Born on November 11, 1950, Alan was raised in Williamsport, Pennsylvania, where he met and eventually married his high school sweetheart and partner, Jeanne Kramer Simon. He received his undergraduate degree from Bucknell University in 1972 and then attended law school at St. Mary's University in San Antonio, Texas, receiving his Juris Doctor with honors in 1974. While attending law school, he was a member of the Phi Delta Phi National Legal Honorary Fraternity, the Legal Research Board and the St. Mary's University Law Journal. Alan was the recipient of the American Jurisprudence Publishers Award in Conflicts and was Associate Director of the Moot Court Board. He is a member of the Texas and Pennsylvania Bars (1974), the U.S. Tax Court and U.S. District Court, Middle District of Pennsylvania (1975), the Florida Bar (1981 ), the U.S. District Court, Southern District of Florida (1981), and the U.S. Supreme Court (1983). He has been a member of the American Bar Association, the Florida Bar Association, the State Bar of Texas, the Pennsylvania Bar Association, the South Palm Beach County Bar Association, the Association of Trial Lawyers of America, the 
Palm Beach County Trial Lawyers Association and Attorneys' Title Insurance Fund, Inc. Alan's primary areas of practice are Business and Commercial Law, Personal Injury and Litigation.

In addition to spending time with his family, Alan devotes most of his leisure time to auto racing. He has earned multiple championships in Sports Car Racing and currently campaigns his Argo JM 19 GTPL in historic racing. In his youth, he won several Science Awards, attended the National Science Foundation and became an Eagle Scout. Alan is currently a member of the Board of Directors of Enterprise National Bank where he also serves as Chairman of the Audit Committee. In additional, he is a member of B'nai B'rith, the Sports Car Club of America, Historic Sportscar Racing, Ltd., has served as an instructor in numerous high performance and safety driving schools and actively supports the American Cancer Society.
